About

Rooted in Tradition, growing in connection.

The name Lindenbaum draws from a historic European symbol. In 17th- and 18th-century German and Dutch paintings, linden trees often appeared in village squares and markets, representing community, dialogue, and social connection. In art, the linden also symbolizes love, loyalty, protection, and togetherness, and during the Romantic period it reflected the human soul, not just the landscape.
Lindenbaum positions itself within this tradition of connection and meaning. The gallery and collective were founded by Dai Scheffer, photographer, based on the belief that art emerges through relationships — between maker and model, between the work and its space, and between art and audience.
Lindenbaum carefully selects the artists based on craftsmanship. Each artist masters their own medium — whether bronze, photography, woodcut, or painting — where tradition meets innovation. Just as the linden tree was a place where people gathered, Lindenbaum provides a platform where artists support one another and gain visibility in a broader context.
With a carefully curated selection of artists, Lindenbaum presents work at international art fairs while building lasting relationships with collectors and private clients. Lindenbaum stands for being rooted while growing, for tradition alongside innovation, and for autonomy in connection.
